My son is in high school. I'm normally not very active at his school, I work multiple jobs. It's a huge school so I don't know all the staff. Well I drop my son off for school and park and go in because I'm having a morning meeting with 2 of his teachers. We have breakfast together in the quad, the bell rings, everyone goes to class and I'm waiting outside the meeting room for the teachers to arrive and unlock it.

While I'm waiting, a staff member walks by. They stop, look at me, ask me where I'm supposed to be right now. I say, Im waiting for (teachers names). He asks for my pass. Now I'm assuming he's talking about a visitors pass, when I checked in at the office I was not given anything. So I said, "I don't have one was I supposed to be given one? I can head down to the office and grab it".

He pulls out a paper a pad and starts writing.. He asks, what's your first and last name? Writes it down. Then hands me the carbon copy of the paper and tells me "you can take this to the office" and uses his walkie talkie to tell them (my full name) is heading to the office now. I just figured it was a temp pass or something like that. So I just quickly jog over to the office thinking I had to check back in, maybe the office staff was supposed to give me a visitor badge or pass of some kind.

I get to the office and hand the slip of paper to the office employee that I checked in with initially and she looks incredibly confused, and then starts laughing. He gave me an infraction! For being tardy and out of class! Apparently he sent me to the office for detention for the rest of the period.

When I told the teachers why I was a running a little behind on the meeting they thought it was hilarious. They even called down to the staff member who had written me the infraction to jokingly tell him he can't send parents to detention or else they'll never get their parent meetings done on time.

Fatalisticend • 2h . All just part of looking young I'm 35 and we had an incident once where someone thought my wife was my mom and my kids were my siblings. That guy was lucky to see the next day as I thought she was going to jail for sure.

Sauceman_Chorizo . 2h The only part of this that bothers me is that they would send a student to detention DURING the class they were late for, instead of making them go to that class. What a counter-productive punishment.

kdognhl411 2h ● It's surprisingly common, I'm a 35 year old teacher at a very large high school and I am still asked for passes with surprising regularity. It's legitimately hard to know sometimes because there's 18-20 year olds who can pass for kid twenties AND people in their 30s that can pass for the same. Always hilarious though!

MartianSockPuppet. 2h My mom came to school to pick me up one time for a doctors appointment. Now my mom is 5'8, covered in tattoos. Her ears at the time might as well have been solid metal with the amount of earrings she had, she is wearing a hat, has a purse with spikes on it, and a knife that is CLEARLY VISIBLE on her belt. All things that would send a normal student to In School Suspension (ISS for us) for the remainder of the year, let alone detention.

95% of the school knew my mom. The other 5% knew of my mom and knew she wasnt someone to trifle with. They flipped coins to see who would deal with my mom. As you see, I'm the youngest of 3, and my two sisters were stirrers and drama queens. My mom had more meetings at this school than the president had had in its existence ever. Yet on this glorious day, my mom walks into the school and meets the 1 person who had no clue who she was. Who is in the middle of reprimanded 3 teenage girls over some

I heard this as I knew I was leaving at that time and she had texted me she was here. So I walk up beside him and go, "I guess home cause that's my mom." The look on his face is a core memory. I still joke to my mom that she never did answer his question.

nosmelc 2h ● I had a HS teacher who was teaching her first year out of college and looked younger than her ~22yo age. An assistant principal who hadn't met her yet stopped her in the hall during her free period and asked what she was doing wandering the halls during class.
